Day 124
Today was a much better day than yesterday. What a relief. I was feeling a little better late last night, but there is no substitute for a good night's sleep in terms of one's mental health and emotional well being...
Helping to make today that much better, I sold Damian's car this afternoon. The buyer, Sam, is a young college student who needed to replace his last car which, if I understood correctly, had been totaled in a recent accident. He used the insurance money to pay for the GTI. Because I liked Sam, I met his price without pushing back. He seems like a really nice, upstanding young man, an opinion that I came to not long after our initial text exchanges and which was reaffirmed today when we met face-to-face for the first time. I shared with Sam that I had held onto the car because he had made a such a good impression. I had had another opportunity to sell the car earlier in the week, but I declined, pinning my hopes on Sam. I'm glad I did. It just felt "right". I think Damian would also be happy with Sam as the new owner.
Nov. 13, 2021 - Damian gets his first car!
Now it's off to the next big ticket item. Probably Damian's drum set. I don't expect it to fetch much, but it takes up considerable space so getting it out of the Damian's bedroom will be a win. Not that we are going to put a price tag on everything, some of it we are going to donate (Goodwill) or give away for free. I shared with Dawn the other day that I'd like to go to the skatepark some afternoon and give Damian's scooter to some boy or girl who might appreciate a nice upgrade. For one of his birthdays, probably 10 or 11, we had given Damian a custom built scooter. As luck would have it, by the time we gave it to him (on his birthday) the pull of the skate park had been eclipsed by his new love of building computers. As such the scooter hasn't been used muchDawn and Damian had tried selling it a couple years ago but that never went anywhere so now we're going to give it away instead. Doing that will bring us both a lot more satisfaction than another couple hundred bucks in our pocket.
Little by little, piece by piece. We will keep the stuff that is important to us, but we can't keep everything so I'll keep chipping away at it.
